About Minus K Technology, Inc.

Minus K® Technology, Inc. was founded in 1993 to develop, manufacture and market our state-of-the-art vibration isolation products based on our patented negative-stiffness technology. Minus K® is based in the Los Angeles area.

Dr. David L. Platus is President and Founder and is the principal inventor of the technology. He earned a B.S. and a Ph.D. in Engineering from UCLA, and a diploma from the Oak Ridge School of (Nuclear) Reactor Technology. Prior to founding Minus K® Technology he worked in the nuclear, aerospace and defence industries conducting and directing analysis and design projects in structural-mechanical systems. He became an independent consultant in 1988. Dr. Platus holds over 20 patents related to shock and vibration isolation.

The Minus K® products, formerly sold under the trade name Nano-K®, represent an important enabling technology. By reducing building and floor vibrations to unprecedented levels these systems enable vibration sensitive instruments and equipment to perform at unprecedented levels. They are used in a broad spectrum of applications including nanotechnology, biological sciences, semiconductors, materials research, zero-g simulation of spacecraft, and high-end audio. Minus K® is an OEM supplier to leading manufactures of scanning probe microscopes, micro-hardness testers and other vibration-sensitive instruments and equipment. Minus K® customers include private companies and more than 300 leading universities and government laboratories in 50 countries.

NEW LC-4 Ultra Compact Vibration Isolators
Minus K’s new LC-4 is an ultra compact, low-frequency negative-stiffness isolator. It comes in two configurations, our low horizontal performance of 1.5 Hz horizontal or the ultra low frequency 0.5 Hz horizontal. Both configurations offer our signature 0.5 Hz vertical natural frequency.

The LC-4 isolators can be combined into multi isolator systems to support heavier payloads while taking up very little room themselves. The isolators are passive, manually-adjustable and require no air or electricity.

NEW CM-1 Compact Large Capacity Vibration Isolation
The new CM-1 is a compact high capacity, low-frequency negative-stiffness isolator. As with all Minus K isolators, they are completely passive and use no air or electricity. The isolators can be combined into multi isolator systems to support heavy payloads while taking up very little room themselves.

The CM-1 isolators can be placed on pedestals to bring them to an appropriate height to retrofit your existing air table, enabling you to keep your existing table top and achieve much better isolation.

SM-1 Large Capacity Vibration Isolation
This isolator has the same basic features of our bench top isolator: completely passive, negative-stiffness, manually-adjustable, 1/2 Hz performance vertical and horizontal. It offers low frequency isolation performance for payloads of many thousands of pounds or kilograms.

This isolator is the basic building block of the FP-1 Floor Platform and other multiple isolator systems.

FP-1 Vibration Isolation Floor Platform
Used for large loads, these custom platforms are typically designed with two or three SM-1 isolators, and can support up to 10,000 lbs. or more. Typical uses are SEMs, TEMs, STEMs and other large metrology or fabrication tools.
